What's On In Gibraltar this July 2019

Some of Gibraltar’s most famous events take place in July, so be sure to clear some space in your diary. Here are some of our favourites.


CALENTITA FOOD FESTIVAL

Date: 5th July

This celebration of Gibraltar's multicultural community features two entertainment stages, a live demonstration kitchen and dishes from around the world. Now in its thirteenth year, the festival takes pride of place on Gibraltar’s cultural calendar.

GIBRALTAR 2019 NATWEST INTERNATIONAL ISLAND GAMES XVIII

Date: 6th – 12th July

This international competition takes place every two years and sees competitors from around the world take part in a variety of events. As the host Island, Gibraltar gets to choose the 12-14 events that will make up this years games.

GIBRALTAR WEEKEND REGATTA

Date: 27th – 28th July

The famous Gibraltar Regatta attracts yachts from all along the Andalucian coast. The highlight of the weekend is the challenging Around the Rock race, which sees crews battle against changing wind patterns. The prize giving ceremony on Sunday is sponsored by Becks beer.

PACO CANDELA

Date: 5th July

After his latest album "Directo al corazón" and his concert tour throughout Spain, Paco Candela presents his new show, The Power of Music. Without a doubt this is the best record of this great flamenco artist's career, and is number one currently in the charts of Fandangos, Sevillanas, Baladas, Rumbas, etc., as well as in popular culture, with more than 70 concerts throughout Spain.

CÁDIZ, ANOTHER PLANET

Date: 6th July

A show created by and for the dissemination of Cadiz humor, mixing the satirical humor of Don Antonio Reguera with Pepito the Box, participant of the children's program Canal Sur "Menuda Noche", passing by the moods of Comandante Lara and Toni Rodríguez, all seasoned with two fantastic presenters, Jesús Tapia and Vicente Ruidos. More than two hours of humor that will leave no one indifferent, a show for all kinds of audiences. This show will be performed 12 times in 2019, only once in each Andalusian capital, Madrid, Barcelona and 2 random dates.

VELADA AND CELEBRATIONS OF THE LINE OF CONCEPTION 2019 (LINE FAIR)

Date: 12th - 21st July

Being almost the only party of the surroundings without cattle origin, the Evening and Fiestas lines commemorate the birth of the city. From July 12 to 21 the city dresses in faralaes and is adorned with lanterns and flounces to celebrate its quintessential party. Joy, fun, friendship and good times meet in the Fairground. These days are especially celebrated on the day of the Coronation of the Queen with her Court, the colourful Cavalcade and the celebration of Domingo Rociero.

VI INTERNATIONAL GUITAR MEETING "PACO DE LUCÍA"

Date: 24th - 28th July

This new edition will continue with the same format of concerts in the Maria Cristina Park, courses in the Municipal School of Music, Dance and Theater "José María Sánchez-Verdú", exhibitions and conferences in the documentary and dance center in Plaza Alta. In addition, the second International Recognition "Algeciras Special Guitar" will be awarded. Thus, the performances of the María Cristina Park will begin on Wednesday, July 24, with the show "Kálico Woman: the goods of the Earth" by Algeciras Alicia Carrasco and José Manuel León, will continue on Thursday with a double concert starring Raimundo Amador in his 60th anniversary tour, and the flamenco guitar recital of the trio formed by Antonio Serrano, Antonio Sánchez and José del Tomate. Friday will be the show "Sombras" by Sara Baras, while Saturday will be a "Noche Flamenca" with Pansequito, Aurora Vargas, María Terremoto and Perico Pañero. Finally, on Sunday Dorantes and Marina Heredia will close the festival with "Esencias".
