April is a month for all things creative, with a range of performances, a craft fair and the International Face and Body Painting Festival. Take a look at what the city has to offer this month…

Taxi – 1st April 2017

Rock band, Taxi, are returning to the stage after almost two years for a very special concert at the Rock Hotel. The group will be performing hits from throughout their career, that spanned almost two decades – from their Melon Diesel days to their Latin American Grammy nominated songs with Taxi. Those who attend will be in the company of a very lucky few, as only 250 tickets are on sale.

Spring Fun Day – 8th April 2017

As the weather begins to feel a little warmer in spring, Gibraltar are holing a public fun day to make the most of it! From 12pm to 4pm visitors to the Laguna Youth Club will be able to take advantage of bouncing castles, skittles, guess the name games, a photo-booth, competitions, and can even grab a bite to eat from the BBQ, with Halal, Kosher, and vegetarian options available.

Semana Santa – 9th April – 16th April 2017

Algeciras will be transformed into a city of colour and celebration in anticipation of Holy Week to celebrate Easter. Festivities will begin on 9th April with Palm Sunday, continuing throughout the week with Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday, Holy Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and concluding on Resurrection Sunday. Processions of intricately decorated floats with Jesus and Mary statues, groups of pointy-hood wearing Nazarenos, and brass bands, will walk slowly through the streets. Semana Santa is a deeply traditional celebration, and is an amazing experience for all visitors lucky enough to be in the country at the time.

  

Ara Malikian - The Incredible Tour Of Violin – 21st April 2017

Incredible Spanish Violinist, Ara Malikian, will be performing at the Palacio de Congresos for one night only. He has become known worldwide for his masterful technique, so this event is not one to miss! Performing his works from ‘The Incredible Story of Violin’ album from 9pm, Malikian will be giving a performance of a lifetime ensuring that all that attends will leave with a night full of memories they could never forget.

Gibraltar’s 5th International Face and Body Painting Festival – 21st April – 23rd April 2017

Organised by the Gibraltar Face & Body Paint Association Gibraltar’s 5th International Face and Body Painting Festival is being held at the Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery this year. With a theme of video games, this year is set to be full of fun and innovative ideas.

Craft & Collectors Fair – 22nd April 2017

Held at the St Andrews Church, between 10am and 2pm, the Craft & Collectors Fair will bring together a variety of antique and vintage items. There will be plenty of bric-a-brac stalls selling a range of interesting items, from books and stamps to silver, and lead soldiers, dolls house items and puzzles to Gibraltar memorabilia, pictures and prints. A range of hand crafted items, such as cards, crocheted and knitted toys and gifts, cork work and candles will also be on sale, alongside delicious home-made snacks and cakes.
